The location is very convenient, and the ambiance is quite pleasant. However, the skills of the therapists can be hit or miss. Despite requesting focus on other areas, they tend to spend a lot of time on the back. Initially, I thought an hour wouldn't be enough, so I started extending my sessions to 90 minutes. However, I've noticed that no matter how much time you book, they still seem to prioritize the back. I like the traditional Thai massage as they include stretching. But sometimes I am afraid they over stretch me.

On a positive note, they've recently added a new area next to the shop with more spacious, well-lit rooms, which is a nice upgrade. However, the feet washing area could use some attention as the water temperature fluctuates, sometimes becoming uncomfortably hot.

One nice touch is that they serve tea before and after the massage in your room, adding a relaxing experience to the visit.

I have visited several Thai Odyssey locations, primarily at KSL, and I’ve been to this branch in JB two or three times. Unfortunately, this was my worst experience so far.

Massages are quite subjective. I opted for a 90-minute Thai traditional massage, but it ended up being the longest and most painful 90 minutes of my life. My husband, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed his session.

I requested a lighter touch multiple times during the massage, but the therapist repeatedly told me that if I wanted a gentler approach, I should have booked an oil spa/massage. She insisted that Thai massages need to be firm and spent extended periods pausing in various positions. To be fair, this wasn’t my first experience with Thai massage; I’ve had many in Thailand where the therapists typically apply the right amount of pressure. Based on my limited experience, the pressure can vary depending on the situation.

Throughout the session, I felt like I was in a constant battle, always on guard to prevent her from applying too much pressure. I felt fine before the massage, but the next day I experienced pain in various areas, particularly on the right side of my neck.

Overall, I found this to be a waste of both money and time. My experience was completely different from my husband’s, which may just be my bad luck. I felt embarrassed to leave a tip in the end.
I won’t be returning to this outlet again.

I recently visited Thai Odyssey Spa at City Square Mall, JB, with my niece, hoping for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a rather disappointing visit that left much to be desired.

The experience started off on the wrong foot. The front desk staff displayed a lack of professionalism, failing to ask critical questions such as whether we had any skin allergies, injuries, or if we were menstruating—standard protocol for any reputable spa. They also did not inquire about our preferred massage strength for the 90-minute Thai Aromatherapy Massage we had requested. Their primary concern appeared to be payment rather than the customer’s well-being, which was disheartening.

After payment, we were asked to wait, which was fine. However, when I inquired about using their restroom, I was told to use the public restroom in the mall instead. This lack of basic facilities for customers is unacceptable for a spa that positions itself as a premium establishment.

The most disappointing part of the visit was the massage itself. I was shocked by the cold tea served before the massage and the lack of skill and professionalism displayed by my assigned masseur. She spoke very little English, which made communication challenging. Worse, her technique was erratic and lacked any flow or structure.

She spent 15 minutes massaging up and down my back, moved to my right shoulder blade, and then abruptly skipped to my left glute, before jumping to the left shoulder and neck, and back again to the right shoulder blade. She completely forgot my left glute. This disorganized approach is not only unprofessional but also counterproductive for achieving relaxation or therapeutic benefits.

Additionally, she used excessive force rather than applying body-weight pressure, which caused discomfort, especially on sensitive areas on the limbs. It was a painful and agonizing experience, far from the soothing massage I had anticipated.

On the other hand, my niece was fortunate to be assigned an experienced and thoughtful masseur who provided a relaxing session, allowing her to sleep through it. This stark contrast highlights the inconsistency in their staff’s training and services.

Thai Odyssey Spa at City Square Mall clearly struggles with consistency in both their customer service and massage techniques. While I sincerely hope they take steps to improve these areas, my experience has left me hesitant to return. Professionalism, attention to detail, and customer care are paramount in the spa industry, and unfortunately, this establishment fell short in all these aspects.

For those considering a visit, I would recommend ensuring you are assigned an experienced masseur and setting clear expectations beforehand. Until then, I hope Thai Odyssey Spa works to improve its service quality for a better and more consistent customer experience.

I usually have my massage at another place when im in JB and this is the first time i try a shop around JB Sentral. As i didnt expect the shops to be so popular i did not make any reservations prior. When we were looking for a place for massage before returning to SG, i was shocked that several shops we asked around the area were all full.
After calling a few places, we tried calling this outlet and they were actually full. But after explaining to the receptionist, she was very kind to try to make arrangements to accommodate us. We managed to get a last minute slot for 3 pax and we were grateful that she went the extra mile to make it work for us.
As compared to the same brand outlet at Komtar where the receptionist was unfriendly and just gave a too bad for you attitude.
The service at this City Square was impressive, both the receptionist and the masseuse were friendly and welcoming and seems to be happy with what they do.
The space is spacious and nicely decorated, room is clean and well equipped. Thanks to this outlet, i will recommend others to give their massage a try and i will definitely return to support their business.

Great massage by Pretta. Enjoy it, feel much better now. Very positive attitudes, caring towards customers and very hardworking.

I like their clean n welcoming friendly atmosphere.

Experience was terrible. Masseuse was ok but the sound insulation is so bad and you can literally hear the other masseuses in the room laughing and talking. It is NOT a relaxing experience a all. Decided to end the massage early and the receptionist Eda refused to refund 30min which I didn't receive massage. Such a shame that a big chain operates this way.

We visited Thai Odyssey Spa at JB City Square during the public holiday, and it was an absolutely relaxing experience! As a foreign worker based in Singapore, I really appreciate how convenient the location is—just a short walk from the Malaysia immigration checkpoint, making it an easy getaway for some much-needed relaxation.

The spa has a warm and calming ambiance, with a clean and well-maintained environment that immediately sets the mood for relaxation. The staff were professional and welcoming, ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience from start to finish. The massage therapists were highly skilled, applying the perfect amount of pressure to relieve tension and stress. I left feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated!

If you're looking for a quality Thai massage in JB, this place is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!
